The first Saturday of every month we will hold a meet up that is light in technical details and focuses on the practical skill of holding your private keys. With the contagion of “crypto” exchanges and yield scams imploding in 2022, and now ETF rumors and failing back end custodians, it is more apparent than ever that self-custody of your Bitcoin is essential. This meet up is specifically for people who want to take the steps to get their coins off the exchange and hold your own keys.
We’ll help you set up wallet software that is a FOSS (Free Open Source Software) bitcoin only project, properly save/ store your keys, send a transaction from exchange to wallet and practice backing the wallet up.
What you should bring:
1. Phone or laptop to download a wallet software. You can bring two devices for back up practice if you’d like.
2. Access to whichever exchange your sats are currently on.
3. Something to write your seed words on, such as pen and paper
4. Questions!
